Polo GTI Steering Wheel Wrap and Removal
Posted: Thu Apr 23, 2020 6:27 pm
I have just purchased a wheel suede/alcantara wrap for my GTI 6C steering wheel.
I purchased from Diversion Automotive. Mk7 Golf GTI/R/GTD community seem to do this more looking on their forums but has anyone done this... i have a few questions.
Firstly, did you bother removing the steering wheel i think i am going to as it will make installation a hell of a lot easier?
Secondly once i removed the airbag and the wheel can i reconnect the battery so i can lock the car at night whilst i get the wrap complete? As long as i don't turn on the ignition i should stay clear of errors right?
I have a Carista OBD scanner so not a biggy IF i can clear the error anyway.
Lastly on the workshop manuals at least for the Mk7 GTIs it says i should replace the wheel nut once removed. Is this a way for them to extract more money from us at services etc or shall i replace and would you bother torquing?
Sorry for all the questions just couldn't really find answers on google. This is what i have gone for.
