6R Halogen Headlights Adjustment

Hello everybody!!
Been a looooong time since I last posted something, let's say I went on a retirement from all the VW forums a while ago...

- checking from time to time (to see how @Ciclo mod list grows...), but now I would appreciate any input as I'm facing a small dilemma. Last year my girlfriend and I moved from Spain to Ireland, and I've been using my Polo here since last summer, as we now know we'll stay for longer (we agreed 1yr trial) my plan is to register the car over here, etc... My question is, can I adjust the halogen headlights so they're compliant on Irish roads or do I need to swap them entirely? There's a few knobs on the headlights that I assume are for changing the pattern?
I was hopping on going to a local garage but with this lock-down...just want to make sure I can adjust mine, and if not...I'll get something on ebay I guess.
Thankkkkk U!

Hi!
Well, thanks for all the input and info... guess I'll need to wait till the lock-down finishes and book time with the local garage to find out if I'm able to adjust or if I need to order a new pair...
Regards!

I'm sorry you did not receive any response but I don't think sarcasm is necessary.
You'll need to swap the headlights for a pair of RHD ones.
I'm not sure what the best way to proceed is, perhaps selling the car in mainland europe and buying a proper RHD car is the best way to go?

Hi iichel!
Yeah, that was my first thought - but there's an item inside the Owners Manual that says "on cars where Travel mode is not available (only for cars with Xenon), the headlight would need to be covered with a sticker or going into an specialized shop to modify the headlight" (paragraph under "Lights & Visibility"). And I had a look...there's a few white knobs on the headlight that I think could be to adjust the pattern from left/right (as up/down is done by the electric motor) - would that make any sense?
As amer6R said, there's some stickers yes... but that's only allowed for a small period of time (like holidays) but not valid when registering the car - it'll fail the NCT check here in Ireland (MOT in Uk or ITV in Spain). Also, had a look at the ETKA online, and I'm unable to differenciate between LHD and RHD headlights. There's a few part numbers (may need to check mine first

) but really...no difference or I can't find it. Checked some Polo's around my neiborghood as well and I can't trully find a difference.
And no, selling the car in Spain is a no-no. The cost of sending the car back and me flying home is the same price as a new pair of headlights, and call me silly but I'm very attached to this blue little thing...it's not going anywhere

. It was the 2nd car in Spain to have the BlueGT IC plus GTi steering wheel thanks to Ciclo back in 2013, we started the Xenon conversion but a problem with the BCM put the project on hold...and I finally gave up. I still have Ciclo's old sport springs mounted...so nope, not selling
Thanks for the entries guys, really appreciate it.

Hi All,
Would anyone know if this could be used for adjusting the beam pattern? The two on top I'll guess are for the standard light and the one below with just one knob would be the high-beam...
Also, in case I swap the headlights - do I need an adapter if I go with a pair from a 6C (as needed for tailights) ?
Thanks!

No you don't need an adapter if you want to install 6C Halogen H7 headlights, it's plug and play.
The screws are for adjustment, but I doubt they can convert from LHD to RHD. But I'm not 100% sure about this.

Thanks for the info iichel - Then the headlight swap it's cheap & easy in case I need to go down that route, and as for the adjustment, we'll see when the garages reopen, hopefully by the 18th May
Appreciate the imput

There is no easy way to permanently convert lamps from LHD to RHD. And definitely not by adjusting beam pattern with these white screws.
I would simply buy a pair of lamps from local market(IRL, UK).
Maybe even preowned are worth considering?

Hi RobertVW ,
Yep, 2nd hand units are a viable option for sure

, no need to go "all-in" with new ones. I'll have a look at ebay down the line as well as some places around Dublin to see if I can source a pair for a good price, loads of Polo's around so should be fairly easy.
Thanks!

Hi all
Small update, I was able to find a pair, brand new and here in Ireland for 200€ - one of the garages near home was asking for 600€ as according to them, the only option was to get the part via VW...hehe. Bit of etka online and some searching saved me a bit of money.
I’ve installed the two headlights, no issues there (might need to adjust them, on the high side now...but that’s a minor thing) - Now I have the “faulty bulb” light on, but leaved my vcds in Spain. Does anyone know a:) why it’s thinking I have a bulb error and b:) how to clear this error.
Is vcds and disabling light check the only option?
Thanks!!
