ive just installed a flip emblem reverse camera and it works perfectly untill the car has been left off for a while and then i need to unplug the main connection block to the MIB II unit in order to get the camera to start working again.

camera still flips up but isnt recognised by the unit, not even an error

any ideas why this is happening

I don't know, but some questions:
- Is your MIB II original (like, not retrofit/hacked)?
- Is your coding done all correctly?

I've changed the unit out to a unit with carplay capability but that was all coded to the car by VW

I've coded it in the infotainment section 5F byte 19 reverse camera enable

I've realised that a soft reset by long pressing the power button makes it start working again

Not sure if it’s different to the Golf (maybe because I have rear parking sensors). But when I retrofit then camera to my Golf I had to code two modules; infotainment module and park assist.

Do you have rear parking sensors?

i dont have parking sensors. ive thought that this might be the problem. its just odd that it doesnt fix itself with a factory reset but it does with a soft reset

UPDATE!

I think its on some kind of 12 hour timer. no idea why

I soft reset last night 9.20pm (i was bored) whilst checking the coding and it still worked at 9am this morning when i parked up at a store. however returning to the car after shopping it needed another soft reset

May be worth checking your time and date settings. Have you got ‘summer BST’ checked? There is a bug I think where by if this is checked the car forgets stuff. If I have this checked it forgets the time and can reset it to pretty much anything.

Uncheck BST and set the clock manually.

thanks for the suggestion

i dont have that option checked. i might try checking and unchecking it to try bamboozle it. see if that fixes it

*UPDATE*

it seems that if i unlock the car and wait a few seconds to turn ignition on then the camera doesnt work and needs a reset

if i jump in and turn ingition on straight away then it works

any ideas what might be causing it?
