Retrofit Cruisecontrol and BCM upgrade

Post by Polobear6r »

Hi,

First of all i want u thank this great forum for all the nice and good information. And Especially Ciclo for the major part in giving information and being nice to people that don't understand everything yet.

So i want to retrofit cruise control on my Polo 6R.
My car is a 2011 Polo 6R on petrol. It is a 3 cylinder 1.2 engine with 60Bhp. It was sold as a Trendline version so all the basics except Airco. (no climate control just normal airco) I am from the Netherlands so my driver side is on the left. my vin number is: WVWZZZ6RZCY
I found out that my car has a 85 BCM and went online and bought a 6R0937087H BCM and cruisecontrol sticks with partnumber: 6Q0 953 503 EJ with on the right side keys for the computer. (i also bought a wireing loom and VCDS cable from Aliexpress. i know the opinions not not buying a 300$ cable from RossTech and i would surely defend my opinion on the matter but not in this topic)

Here are my questions:

1. The round thing on front side (slip ring is it called i think?) where u van plug in the connector for the airbag? i guess it can spin around but i dont know what position it should be in because it is loose and not been taped so it would not move around. So i can turn it 360 degrees and mount my steering wheel but maybe the car thinks that the steeringwheel is turned all the way left.
How im i gonna find out the right position?

Can i find out by guessing if i turns it 2 times to the left and 2 times to the right then the middle would be the center where it can turn 2 times to the left and 2 to the right? (yeah i know in my head it sounds so simple but i dont know how to put it down in words hahaha)

2. I don’t understand how the screen in the middle of the speedometer is called. I see some people call it DIS some MFA some MFD of MFA+ ? i don’t know what screen i have. It's just black and white.
Ill post a photo of my unit:
Image

Can i use the other functions with the keys on the right sticks? So i can see options for trip and fuel consumptions ?

2.1 And what wires do I need to connect to get this working.

3. I dont realy understand the wirering diagrams, they seem a little bit confusing.
Many thanks for Gannu 1 form the team-bhp forum for make a simple diagram that I do understand.
Image

Can someone make some for the wires that I need for the TRIP OK/reset buttons to work? Or are there no wires necessary for this?

4. When retrofitting the new BCM I would like to backup my whole 85BCM just in case. How do I make an extensive backup for everything in VCDS?
Gannu 1 in this topic says: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/diy-do-y ... odule.html
Procedure:
The procedure is pretty straightforward and simple.
First and the most important step - connect the VCDS cable and copy-paste the long coding from the 09-Central Electronics module > Coding - 07 to a notepad file.

Take screenshots of all the 29 Bytes under the Long Coding Helper.

Use the Snipping Tool and use the New Window Snip option to quickly select the window for which the screenshot has to be taken:
This way, you will know what options were individually enabled and disabled when you adapt the new BCM to the car.

Next up, go to 19-CAN Gateway module > Coding - 07 and copy-paste the long coding to the notepad file.
Click on Installation List and take the screenshots of the options that are ticked:
Important: These options will vary from car to car! Please do not take this as a reference for your car!
These have to be transferred to the new BCM after doing the physical swap.
But there a way more modules in VCDS do I not need to back those up to? And how do I do that.

So I hope u guys can help me with my questions. I have yet to get all my parts from china so that may take a while.

I expect more from a moderator than this.

You are not in any position to expect anything from me. My task as a moderator concerns the moderation of the forum. Basically that's just housekeeping of any posts and users that are not in the correct place. If you expect me to help everyone out here, including yourself, you came to the wrong place... I'm just a user here that has an extra task. I do this for free and as a hobby. Now tell me, what do you expect?

A forum is a very nice place for discussion and I'm curious as to why you think a clone vcds is an idea worth defending. I'm genuinely curious. I'm very opposed to the use of these clone cables both for practical and principal reasons.

U are right. I am sorry i was not in a position to call u out like that. I apologize.
I had a discussion about fake vs real cables and I am convinced. I did not know OBD is an open protocol and people pointed out some good arguments why fake cables are crap.
I'm looking to buy an original cable this fits my needs.

Better save than sorry. And it's the right way to support Ross Tech.

I hope we can leave this bad start behind us.

So i have an original cable now. Jeeeej.
I already did a autoscan and cleared some not so relevant codes. My airbag light is now gone so im very happy with that.

I there anyone that could shed some light on my questions above?

Autoscan ?
Ah ok. so it’s just different languages.
But what is the difference between an MFD and MFD+ ? I read there are MFD’s that als half the screen and full screen. Mine is full screen does that also mean it is MFA+ ?

This is my autoscan. People on other forum recommend removing the VIN number for privacy and copytheft reasons.

Thanks for the Autoscan.

I delete the last five digits of the VIN because I don't feel like everyone using my VIN for personal purposes.
However, when publishing an autoscan there are methods to know the complete VIN, that is, those who have knowledge know it anyway.

Everyone knows that dangerous people are those without knowledge ...
Impossible to steal a car knowing the VIN, ... otherwise VW would not make it visible on the windshield.

---

Your instrument cluster screen, even if it is full screen is MFD without plus, that is, an on-board computer that is not capable of displaying Menus of additional functions (navigation, telephone, radio, etc.)

---

The pin dedicated to the CCS in the ECU (CGPB) of your 6R ('C' Model Year) is T121/69.

Yes you can. You need to install some wiring from the stalks T41 to instrument cluster and activate it with vcds.

Your instrument cluster screen, even if it is full screen is MFD without plus, that is, an on-board computer that is not capable of displaying Menus of additional functions (navigation, telephone, radio, etc.)

The pin dedicated to the CCS in the ECU (CGPB) of your 6R ('C' Model Year) is T121/69.
Ah wauw Thanks. I knew That different models used a different pin on the ECU but I did not know the pin for my exact model. That is such a huge help. Thanks!

Ah ok. So my display is just a MFA?
Can i use the buttons on the right stalks then? for changing /scrolling trough options on screen?
Yes you can. You need to install some wiring from the stalks T41 to instrument cluster and activate it with vcds.
Ow wauw, that is great. I was a little sad because I thought my MFA was a little bit useless but this just made my day!
Now I just have to find out which wires go where and make for myself an understandable paint diagram hahaha.

Thanks guys
