EPC error

Hi all..

Odd question
Asking for a friend.

My friend damaged their passenger side front wing and when taking to the crash repairers for a private repair the EPC light came on. Now his car had been sitting for about 4-5 weeks before the damaged was caused.

He read about the EPC and it was only amber so drove to work, however then an engine management light came on his way back from work, again only amber

Do you think the damage to the bumper caused the EPC error or do you think unrelated and deserves a warranty claim from VW?

Could their be the possibility because the car wasn’t run for 4-5 weeks that something might have upset a sensor somewhere.

The car he has is a 2019 Polo 1.0tsi.

Thanks..

I believe both front wings are hollow except for left (UK - passanger side) should have reservoir for wiper washing liquid. problem migh be in engine bay at passanger side is fuse box and nex to it is ecu. Maybe check cables for damage or check error code it might not be connected to crash and something is just broken.

The accident repairer should be able to assess if there's related damage when they strip the car to replace the front wing. It might be that the impact has dislodged a plug or other component.

If the repairer deems no physically apparent damage to cause EPC fault then they'll repair the wing and leave you to sort the EPC fault through warranty.
