My 10k oil change is coming up, is it really necessary to get it done asap or is it just a way of vw making more money? If i did book it in how much would it cost?

If you want to keep your warranty you'll need to book it in soonish. If you're in the UK and the caf is under 1 year old, you'll be able to prepay minor service (10k miles) and major service with VWFS for £299 (would've been £199 if bought with the car).RichTea wrote: Tue May 26, 2020 4:01 pm My 10k oil change is coming up, is it really necessary to get it done asap or is it just a way of vw making more money? Sorry to jump in, is that on a service plan? Always wondered if it was cheaper to do it in advance or ad-hoc.monkeyhanger wrote: Tue May 26, 2020 4:23 pmIf you want to keep your warranty you'll need to book it in soonish. Cheaper in advance. If you buy the service plan with the car it costs £199. Buy it after delivery but within a year and it's £299, paid monthly- about £16.50 per month over 18 months.PhilArnold wrote: Tue May 26, 2020 7:29 pmSorry to jump in, is that on a service plan? Do you buy it from vwfs or through the dealer? Car should be a month or so away so I'm guessing I have time?monkeyhanger wrote: Tue May 26, 2020 7:41 pmCheaper in advance. Go to your dealer and you'll pay £130-180 for first (oil change) service and £200-250 for the second (oil and inspection).service. Worth buying the service oack.
I can't remember whether both scenarios had to buy from VWFS, but if you buy with the car it can be got for £199, thereafter (definitely VWFS) it is £299. Ask you dealer before your car is registered.PhilArnold wrote: Tue May 26, 2020 8:20 pmDo you buy it from vwfs or through the dealer? If you’re worried about it going too far over the service due date, are there any other VW dealers nearby with less of a back log that you could use?l3rady wrote: Tue May 26, 2020 10:43 pm My local VW garage is still not open but when they do any servicing slots will go to those more in need. After that, there will be a massive backlog and less capacity at garages due to social distancing having to be maintained. It is looking like another 2-3 months before I will be able to get the car booked in for its service. It is due in less than a month. Got an email from VW saying that warranties will not be voided if not serviced on time due to COVID-19 delays.
Cheers mate. So is it just an oil change or is it a full service?monkeyhanger wrote: Tue May 26, 2020 4:23 pmIf you want to keep your warranty you'll need to book it in soonish. I'd be amazed if they aren't all back up and running come June 15th - they'll need to get the money flowing in again.S_94 wrote: Wed May 27, 2020 2:27 pm Still waiting to book my service in. All the VWs around me are closed.
First one is an oil and oil filter change. Second one they'll change the air filter and kick the tyres to justify the 50% higher cost!RichTea wrote: Wed May 27, 2020 1:52 pmCheers mate. Considering retail shops are opening then I'd really hope so. I've got a service plan with VW, I'm assuming that means I can go to any dealership to have work done?monkeyhanger wrote: Wed May 27, 2020 2:30 pmI'd be amazed if they aren't all back up and running come June 15th - they'll need to get the money flowing in again.S_94 wrote: Wed May 27, 2020 2:27 pm Still waiting to book my service in. Yes you can - just tell them you have a service plan when you book it in. They'll find your car in the system and confirm no charge.S_94 wrote: Wed May 27, 2020 2:34 pmConsidering retail shops are opening then I'd really hope so.
