Installed new Kenwood stereo with apply play, disconnected red cable and
wired it to fuse spur and doubled up a fuse.
Other than that I connect the tiny black cable from new dab windscreen
aerial to the blue and white cable along with the blue white cable from the
aerial adapter.
Can anyone help
Aftermarket stereo turns off when I turn the lights on
Re: Aftermarket stereo turns off when I turn the lights on
followed a guide that told me to connect the red cable to a fuse spur on ignition switched fuse, all works well but when I turn the lights on or indicators the stereo turns off!! Also a epc light is showing on the dash when key is first stuck in the ignition!! Can you help at all? What have I done wrong?

Aftermarket stereo turns off when I turn the lights on
If I were you mate I’d take the stereo out, return everything to how it was and drop £75 on a proper canbus adapter to fit to your new stereo. This method doesn’t involve any piggybacking or fuse boxes. 99% of the time what you’re doing works brilliantly, but when it doesn’t you’ve got all this battle with!
The EPC stuff - could you get someone to run a diagnostic on it? There’s a lot of different reasons that the light could be showing for.

Re: Aftermarket stereo turns off when I turn the lights on
Hi cheers for the advice, I did buy a proper vw adaptor from Halfords cost me £70, I changed the fuse position and had it so the stereo didn’t turn off when the lights came on. Only reason I piggy backed is because in all the vids iv watched they say you need an ignition live or the stereo will stay on permanently and drain the battery.
As for the epc don’t know if it was there before as it’s my girlfriends car or wether I’ve taken a fuse out and not put it back in the right place on most fuse layout diagrams fuse 27 is blank but Iv got a 10a in they position, could this cause the epc problem? Could I download a program to do a diagnostics myself?
