2016 GTI Japanese import - head unit help

Morning
I’ve just bought a 2016 Polo GTI that was imported last year and converted. But they have taken out the old head unit as apparently it didn’t work over here, and just left the wiring and a hole 👍
I’d quite like to fit an original VW head unit if I can. But if not, I will put an aftermarket one in. Is anyone able to help tell me which head unit I need, as I feel like I’m hitting my head against a brick wall!!

When someone with a same age GTI helps you by handing over the hardware part number, and you buy a used one, you will need to get Component Protection removed at a proper VW Group Indie or a VW dealership.

Maybe have a look on www.ifinterface.com > CarProg2 for suitable part numbers.

i have to say that connector looks different to the uk models.

the stock head unit is 3q0 035 820 B or 3q0 035 842 B and the screen is 6C0919603

I would imagine what they’ve done is out one of those Asian android double din units in, hence the quad lock harness connector is there rather than in the glovebox like it should be.
The USB cable looks a bit suspect as well.
You should be able to add a new unit providing you add the wiring for the missing USB ports and remove CP etc.
