Hello,

I would like to upgrade the brakes of my 6R GTI to 6R WRC, I think that they use same caliper with different bracket and a bigger rotor. Anybody has done this mod?

Thanks.

Yep, you need to upgrade the caliper carrier and the disc at the front. But the more tricky part is to code the ABS unit.
There is a coding for a GTI CTHE engine with 312mm fronts and 232mm rears. But it will only work on ESP9.0i and I'm not sure it will accept 312 + CAVE engine.

Why would you need to code the ABS? I upgraded my 6R Tdi, from 256mm to 288mm, changed calipers, carriers, rotors, knuckles, the braking difference is day and night i did not recode anything and i haven't noticed any problems...

Because the distribution between front and rear brake pressure meds to be ok for good braking and braking stability

Im not an expert but abs sensors measure wheel rotation, its got nothing to do with rotor size...

The ABS/ESP unit also divided the brake pressure from the brake pedal between the front and rear axles. I.e.70% to the front and 30% to the rear with 256mm fronts 232mm rears.
If you have larger rotors, 288 instead of 256mm at the front, you want to have lower pressure. If you still have 70/30 the front axle will brake much stronger. So therefore you need i.e. 60/40.

Yes ok but due to EBV electronic brake variator, wouldn't the braking force be applied correctly since it reads and adapts on the fly on the braking conditions?

No, not until you lock up a wheel or the rear goes really light.

Don't know have not noticed anything bad about my setup just much better braking, no early ABS engaging or other noticable problems, i will ask a brake specialist though when i have the chance...

If you have VCDS or something similar, you can also adjust the coding of the abs yourself.

Can you post your current long coding of the abs?
