When my new car arrives I’ll be moving from 16 to 17 inch wheels.
Same car - R Line 115. So easy to compare when I get to drive it.
Obv I’ll find out how it drives differently but just wondered what ppls feedback is on the difference?
I assume firmer ride and I think better road grip as wider?
What’s ppls experiences / thoughts?

Whether the ride is noticeably firmer / grip is better on 17’s compared to 16’s will depend to some extent on the tyres, although generally speaking, you’d expect wider tyres to offer better grip because of the larger contact patch between the tyre tread and the road.
Cons;
Potentially greater risk of kerbing the larger wheels, although tyres with good rim protection will mitigate this to some extent.
Cost of tyres - in general terms, 17” tyres will cost more than 16” tyres, although brand of tyre will be a factor.

Thanks. Does anyone know what tyres come with the 17’s on the R Line?

In the used cars section on VW’s website, the vast majority of nearly new R-Line Polo’s with optional 17” Bonneville alloys have Bridgestone’s , 2 or 3 have Continental’s and one has Avon’s.
It’s a bit of a lottery which tyres will have been fitted, but based on the above, looks as if Bridgestone is VW’s tyre of choice on 17” Bonneville’s.
