Inconsistent revs...

Hi all.
Please don’t shoot me down if I’m the wrong section...
Daughter has a Polo 1.2 63 plate that’s driving me insane..
Problem is inconsistent revs when either driving on revving whilst stationary, for example if you try to hold it on 3000rpm it drops to around 2000rpm the climb back up cycling at the same consistency not randomly.
Just had timing chain changed, tried new spark plugs and coils but still the same..
Also after resetting the engine light comes back on after a week
