Advice re: minor damage to alloys

Hi all - just wondering if anyone has some sage advice re: some relatively minor damage to my Polo’s alloys - went over a large pothole concealed by an even larger puddle.
I’ve linked a photo. Is this something I can fix myself - e.g. by sanding out - or do I need a professional? I don’t need perfection and the actual indent is small - but it’s the white/lighting perimeter that has perplexed me - will that sand out back to the silver alloy? If so, I could probably do it myself and live with the relatively minor scuff.
