Hi All,

About 3 months ago I adjusted the gearbox linkage cable as getting reverse was iffy. All sorted now and gearbox is a dream except that recently getting 5th gear is a bit hit or miss. No crushing, just trying to get the gear lever in gear.

There are 2 cables, is the 5th gear cable the same as 1,2,3,4? I say that as I don't want to upset the smooth gearchange I have now if I play with the cable to adjust the 5th gear.

If it is the cable, is it too tight or too loose?

Your correct in that there are 2 cables, one controls left to right movement ( on the gearstick) the other controls forward and back movements.
If you are having difficulty getting 5th it’s probably the left and right cable this is more than likely a result of your previous adjustments for reverse gear as 5th is opposite to reverse ,try adjusting it a little at a time so you can get both gears correctly.you should not need to adjust the other cable if all gears can be engaged forward and back.
