Leak from front windscreen scuttle cover into engine

Hi All - on my 2019 GTI+ there is water coming from the front windscreen scuttle cover into engine and this has caused some corrosion.
I took a closer look and the parts have been installed very poorly or are just defective / doesn't fit together properly to form a watertight/secure seal.
I've had my car from new, no accidents or windscreen replacements... all original from the factory!
Anyone else have this issue? Or has anyone managed to get VW to resolve?

I park my Polo outdoor, during heavy rain water drip into the engine at the middle point where the 2 windscreen scuttle join together, I think this is a design problem.

I have the smaller 1.6 MPi engine, so luckily the water won't drip onto my engine.

That gap is way too big and the water seal is not compressed, something is not right. :o

It looks like there is no clips holding the panels together, I will take some photos of my Polo and show you where are the clips that holds the panels together.

My Polo only drips water in heavy rain, but with your Polo's big gap it is pouring water in any rain.

There are 3 clips that is holding the plastic panel of my Polo together, circled in RED in the photo below:

This is what it looks like when the middle clip is installed in place:

I removed one of the clips, and this is what it looks like:

Maybe you should also try to tighten this silver colour flat ring (Circled in YELLOW) and see it can push the plastic panel up a bit:

By the way, my Polo is a MY20, built in August 2019 at the South Africa factory.

FYI.

@ho8882000 - thanks, I checked and i have all 3 clips and they are holding the scuttle cover to the other piece of plastic (or thin metal) under it. Its just a very bowed shape, not straight like yours without a gap. Even if i try and push together it just pulls apart again and leaves a gap.
I've also pushed that ring up as far it can go - no change in gap.

Maybe take your Polo to the dealer and see what they say. :(

Yes i don't think i have a choice, problem with the dealer is they fix one thing and cause several more issues along the way!

Have a look at this:

This person has a very similar rust issue, but on a 1.0 TSi engine.

I personally wouldn’t be concerned about the light surface corrosion on the cast iron parts on the engine compartment, for the reasons stated in the discussion thread at the link posted by ho8882000 in the previous post. I would want the poorly fitting scuttle panel sorted though - either re-fitted correctly or replaced with one that doesn’t allow excessive water to drain into the engine compartment.
