For those that have replaced their 215/40x18 tyres with the same size tyres (as opposed to switching to 225), what make did you go for and what do you think of your choice? Thanks.

From what I've read on here I don't think anyone stuck with 215

I changed the front tyres on my Gti in the winter, went for Goodyear Vector all season - standard sizes
Haven't bothered changing back to the Bridgestones, don't see any need.
Turn in is maybe a bit 'softer' than the Bridgestones, i guess that's the trade off for the wider and deeper sipes to clear snow and a bit of tread movement when turning in hard.
But for a marginal and subjective loss of sporty feedback in summer, the ability to get going in snow is a great bonus and I'm mightily impressed with them.
Michelin cross-climate are equally impressive all-season tyres, only someone hyper-picky (or just making it up to look sportier than they are) would complain about them in comparison to a full-summer tyre.

Thanks for the feedback on the Goodyear Vectors Andy, they've certainly got good reviews on-line. I see that their standard sizes don't include 215/40x18, so I'll have to pass on those as I want to stick to that size.

Well that's what's on mine.
215/40x18, as I have optional Brescia 18" alloys.
I can provide a photo if required.

Just had another look and I've found them straightaway! Black Circles £162.96 each fitted, quite expensive! EDIT. Just noticed they are self seal.

I got mine from Black circles, they were £249 fitted total.
If I get rid of my Polo, I'll be shoving the standard Bridgestones back on and I'll try here/ebay/facenbook marketplace to flog them.

It's certainly looking that way. Andy is the only person to have responded as sticking with 215.

Surely there must be others?

I think that might be because Andy likes to go against the grain
