How do you know the current state of your GPF?

It would appear that most UK polos have a GPF now

My 1.0 TSi (2019) is among them probably. I didn't know anything about them till i read comments here.

Despite some searching I can't find what symbol pops up when it needs regenerating or if you can analyse the data perhaps with an OBD2 scanner. I have a Think100 OBD2 coming. It is engine only scanner. I am wondering if that would look it up or even if that data is available to see. I bought it mainly as a thing to leave in the boot for times when the engine light came on and I could find out if the car is still drivable without damaging anything.. like faulty Engine Coolant Temp sensor and engine coolant not boiling up or other faulty sensor.. etc

Anyone know if the GPF data is viewable?

According to "Self-study Programme 571 - The Polo 2018", if the GPF is not functioning normally the K83 lamp (MIL) should be on.

It will be viewable, I'd be surprised f it wasn't.
I've seen the data displayed for our DPF diesel Evoque on a laptop, it tells you how many grammes of soot are in it.
And IIRC it gave you numbers at which regens start and it's considered totally blocked.

Thanks for the reply.

Every time I look up look up GPF on the web I just got DPF related answers.

Would be great if the data of going to be viable on the Think100 OBD when it comes. :D

Never tried it on the Polo GTI+, but with my OBD11, I could see current.load of soot, how much (theoretical) incombustible ash there was, how long from last regen and to next regen, and a load of other parameters.

That's a possible then with the Think100 OBD2..

I just don't know what to look for on the list.. there are so many acronyms.. only recently discovered that ECT was Engine Coolant Temp!

Can you recall what the soot levels were listed under perhaps?

Thanks again

OBD11 is app based and will have a totally different layout to your device. OBD11 is as functional as VCDS, I'm guessing that a £17 Think 100 OBD2 will be much less functional. Sorry, can't help you there. On OBD11 it will be somewhere in the engine management module.

I'll still take a look at the listings when i get it and hooked up..

I mainly purchased it to keep in the car for when/if the engine light comes on and want to know if i really need to stop the engine or can get to a garage.

Hi @monkeyhanger

I looked back at your reply/message here regarding GPF data/status with interest as I have now ordered an OBD Eleven NextGen so i can check the state of my GPF before taking the car to VW.

It should come soon.. just wondering where in the app menus to look if you don't mind me asking?. the more information i can glean beforehand the better.

Thanks
