Gti light cluster

Hi

My question is to do with my sons 2016 polo gti

Is it possible to swap out the front LED light clusters with halogen ones??

New O/S light cluster is needed and we are getting quotes at £700. Whereas I can pick up both halogen type clusters for £200.

Are the connections the same?
Will it throw up fault codes if swapped?
Can it even be done electrical wise?

Many thanks

No it's not a plug and play solution, you'll need some new connectors to the headlight, 14 to 10 pin, remove the AFS system and recode your BCM

Even if it is possible, I’d not consider changing LED headlamps for halogen. I owned a 2016 GTI before my current model Polo GTI+; both with LED headlamps. IMO there’s a significant difference in night visibility with LED headlamps compared to halogens and having owned cars with xenon and LED and halogen headlamps, I’d not want to go back to halogen units.

Also, when the time comes to sell the car, many would-be buyers of a Polo GTI are likely to be enthusiasts so will be aware that a UK spec 6c GTI has LED headlamps. A 6c GTI with halogen units may be difficult to sell - some would be buyers will be put off the car as replacement halogen headlamps could suggest it’s suffered frontal damage and been repaired ‘on the cheap’.

I just want to add that having sons who drive GTIs is very expensive, it is better to change the son ...

You know I'm kidding, the sons are great ... especially the current ones.😄

Thanks for the replies folks.

I will just replace with a like for like assembly then.

Cheers

Perhaps a used light unit is an option?

Finding a used light seems to be difficult.

I believe the part number you are looking for is 6C2941774A, even though the offside and near side wording is often confusing to a non-brit LHD driver.
I assumed offside it the situation where there are less than two players between the offensive player receiving the ball on the defensive half of the field, where the ball is moving towards the defending goal.

Anyway, probably right side headlight, right?
