Re: Any one ordered the new facelift GTI?
Jumping in late re: poss paint issues, a couple of car paint specialists told me:
Best colours to 'hide' scratches; silver & white.
Best to 'hide' dents; black & dark blue (& easiest to colour match).
All time worst to colour match; silver.
Hopefully none of us will need such info, nice Car Emma20360 BTW.....

Be wary about changing badge as it may have the ACC sensor in the surround.....

Hi,
Haven't been on here in ages.
I have a 2019 GTI plus and have decided to get the revised model.
Delivery around August I'm told.

If it is August then that’ll be a much shorter lead time than the 16-17 months you had to wait for your current car. What colour and spec are you going for this time?

Hi
Yes you are right, this should be a walk in the park. They already had one on order but no confirmed build date so I took that and changed the spec.
I went for Grey again, although a different shade I know. I've had 2 reds before and a white.
Keyless
Pano roof
Rear camera
Drivers assist pack
18" Faro wheels
Heated seats.

Worth considering is the proper space saver spare wheel and tools, good value for money. 100% reliable something which cant be said of the gloop.

Tried ordering the space saver wheel, the system just wouldn't allow it at the time.

Re: Any one ordered the new facelift GTI?
Can't dealer just order the spare wheel & jack kit for you ? Incedentally; I tried to save some cash in buying the 'kit' (spare wheel + tyre, jack, wheel brace, nut cover / wheel trim puller, screwdriver) from well-known online selling sites and would have saved literally a few pounds, £20 or less. Off VW you get the entire 'kit' for £150ish and you know it will be ok, speaking as I find (and one who has suffered punctures literally in the middle of nowhere) I wouldn't trust the bottle of gloop either........

Space saver and associated tools are £100, that's a bargain and I doubt you'd be able to match that buying all the bits. With the last GTI we had three punctures over a short period of time, the fact we had a spare allowed us to get the puncture fixed and keep the tyre. Once you've used the sealant the tyre is ruined.
The configurator allows you to add this to your order, just tried it.

Re: Any one ordered the new facelift GTI?
Yes, the configurator allows it, but maybe when the dealer placed the order for @johnpolo2’s car, perhaps the VW ordering system didn’t allow it for whatever reason.steeve wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 8:28 am Space saver and associated tools are £100, that's a bargain and I doubt you'd be able to match that buying all the bits. In @johnpolo2’s position, I’d be asking the dealer to order in a spare wheel kit, and either supply it for free (wishful thinking ), or if they’re not prepared to do that, supply it at the current price shown on the configurator (£100), less whatever % discount off list price was agreed on the overall deal.

Re: Any one ordered the new facelift GTI?
Last I checked the price was nearer £120sh but I wouldn't argue, and should have made clear that obtaining the stuff from 'well-known online selling sites that would have saved literally a few pounds' was sourcing each item from a different source, so obviously increasing the chance of it being wrong. But yeh, pukka OEM item best for such situations....

Re: Any one ordered the new facelift GTI?
That's right.
The guy from VW, he's worked for them for years, found that the system wouldn't allow him to add it to my order. He really did try. He was bemoaning the VW ordering system and usual anomalies.
I'll chat to him about it . No confirmed date yet anyway, just unconfirmed of April.

Re: Any one ordered the new facelift GTI?
Did say £120ish, it is £100 wasn't sure but don't need to argue or say it twice, still prefarable to bottle of gloop....
