Hi there,
So have any of you tried to change the soundaktor or/and the soundaktor module?
I have tried turning it off and to 50% with carista but I wondered if you could change the sound completely.
After seeing this volkswizard video with the Golf R and the S3 with the same EA888b engine, I really want to try changing the soundaktor module, since that must be where the sound profile is.

So before I order an S3 8y soundaktor module, has anyone tried it?

As far as I know the soundaktor is fancy way to call speaker in world of VAG. Again I might be wrong but it should only introduce vibration into windshield and use it as big "speaker". So I don't think it have anything saved in it.

Yeah, I don't think the soundaktor has a sound signature, it's just the "speaker".
But the module beside it, I believe that it could contain the "profile".
I'm going to borrow some pictures from monkeyhanger from this post: viewtopic.php?t=74939
The one marked with red is the one I am talking about.
(POS 2)
Diagram like this show that there is power and CAN bus, so just signalling.
I believe the part number is 8Y0907159 (found on https://ifinterface.com)
EDIT
Yes, found what I was looking for
It does look like it could fail with the code "Incorrect Vehicle Type" for A9 module looking up with vcds..

Well, it finally happed!
The soundaktor firmware is unlocked and you can now flash new firmware on your soundaktor from other VAG products.
If anyone with OTIS or VCD is willing to try I would love to hear the results.

I have a milltek exhaust fitted so removed the module completely from under the windshield and wrapped the loose socked in a plastic bag.
no error codes on the dash but VCDS will pick up that its 'disconnected'
much better.
