Exhaust knocking

Post by sonne »

I'v just fitted a new exhaust to my polo but the nearest hanger arm to the engine is touching the dogbone? And causing a loud knocking sound i'm not sure if the pipe is bent or if the arm has been welded at the wrong place but i don't know how to fix it. I will take a pic of the part.

Probably the correct answer is that it is either not the correct variant of aftermarket exhaust for that car or it has been incorrectly assembled, either way it will require you to remove that section and take it back to where you got it from for them to compare with others in their stock - but that is a compete faff! Getting an exhaust place to move that hanger to the correct position would probably be easier - if they are willing to do that work.

It's not possible to move the hanger or exhaust as it is bent so it will always knock the only option i have is to cut the hanger off the exhaust completely but i have no idea what cheap tool i can use to do it?
