Browsing on Discover Media Navigation

Hi all
I can see a browsing function on the Discover Media Nav. I've connected to my phone through WLAN okay but the browser stays greyed out.
Is it possible to web browse from smartphone? My little boy wants to watch you tube through the screen when car stopped also.
Is either actually possible? I've looked on manual but it's too complicated for my old brain to fathom
