Polo Coupe Genesis 1993 Service

Post by Musky »

Hi there,

I have just got a VW Polo Mk2f Coupe Genesis 1993, to tinker about with on my days off from work.

I have purchased some items to give it a service:

Air Filter, Pollen/Cabin Filter, Oil Filter, Fuel Filter and oil.

However, I can't seem to find the place to put the Pollen/Cabin Filter?

There doesn't seem to be any videos on youtube for Mk2 Filters, is it a case that this didn't have these types of filters or am I just not looking in the right place?

Also, I purchased 5w30 Castrol Oil as it was recommended on EuroCar Parts, is that the correct oil for this age of vehicle.

Cheers.

Tom

There is no pollen filter on these - its too old to have one. This didn't become standard till the 6N in 1994

Also, wrong oil. You need 10W40 semi synthetic.

Pick up some new spark plugs instead and change those :) New dizzy cap and rotor wouldn't go a miss either.

Cheers for that.

I should have said, I've got some spark plugs.

Looks like I'll be sending back both the oil and filter then.

Do you know any good websites to get parts from? Currently looking for a pair of wing mirrors!
