1988 1.4cl auto keeps cutting out while driving

Post by Lofty George »

Hi. I have searched the net and not really found a straight answer. There seems to be lots of posts about this issue. I have replaced the throttle body which cured the problem for about 3 days now its gone back to stalling at least 6 times on the 20 min drive to work. It also doesn't get up to temperature staying well velow 70° not sure if the problems are connected.
Thanks in advance.....I'm desperate...its bloody cold on the motorbike 🏍

Temperature = faulty thermostat.
Power loss = EGR (lines or valve) and crankcase breather (lines or valve) can be clogged. Did you clean these out as well? These are the first issues I can think of because they are very common. It can also be due to a dirty fuel filter or coil/sparkplugs for example.

Have you sorted this yet? If not, could it be that the coil is old and not giving a good spark when it heats up? Test for a spark when it cuts out. Use a timing light strobe if you have one.
