Hi All

I have this question before ,my airbag light is on and i,ve tried vag com -lite and can connect with engine and various others abs etc
the only one I cant connect with is airbag

does this mean the module is faulty and requires a new one and can I buy one from e-bay as I have seen them for sale
or does it need to be programmed

its driving me crazy

If the airbag light is on due to non communication you should get faults in other control units that you can read .
This may give you a clue if it is indeed a faulty control unit for air bag ?

Edit: it’s also a M.O.T failure

I think your wrong there, see here as these cars don’t have the function to indicate the passenger air bag is turned off it just indicates a fault.

7.1.6. Supplementary restraint system (SRS)
The SRS MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) should only be failed if it is indicating a system malfunction. A lamp illuminated to indicate the passenger airbag is disabled is not to be regarded as a defect.

Warning messages on dashboard displays are not a defect in their own right, but may assist the tester in determining that the warning lamp is illuminated because a malfunction exists.

Defect Category
(a) An SRS malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) indicates a system malfunction Major

Taken directly from the mot inspection manual

Hi All

When the airbag light is on is the fault on the passenger side or the whole system
cannot communicate with Airbag ECM with vag com lite that is what me thinks its the ECM

any ideas

Hi All

I have tried to clear my airbag light with vag come lite but put the polo in for MOT and the garage cleared it with their Bosch system

does any know why it would clear with their system and not mine

great result from the garage

Maybe that fault clearing is not within the scope of the "lite" version, have you checked up on exactly what the "lite" version is capable of?

If you post a year and engine etc I may be able to get a diagram and tell you the pin outs for the ecu

Hi All

thanks to everyone that added comment but the garage cleared it when I went to pick the car up and did not charge me

maybe to do with my vag com lite

no lights on now also cleaned the butterfly flap on the throttle body and no error codes came back
