Right, I was wondering where the best shift (oops nearly said s**t point then!) point is, 'cos according to the official figures by the VW, the most torque you get is at ~3800rpm, but the most power output is at 5000rpm.

So which one is it really!? And if I constantly change gear at high rpm's, what damage would that make? In another words, is that bad?

Max rev shifting is the fastest way. Although the car is accelerating slower than before 5000.

That's what will be improved a lot with a chip. The standard limiting for high rev's is altered to a higher RPM. So more keen on high rev's.

The engine won't suffer if you take enough time to warm up the oil before flooring the pedal.

I'd say it depends where your rev range is once you have shifted. No point shifting at 3800 as the next gear will come in too low. Shouldn't do any damage shifting at higher rpm's as long as you're not hitting the limiter everytime you shift.

WEll I would like to have a chip installed but surely that would increase insurance cost? That's not good then.

Warming up? When the oil temperature needle is at the middle point, is that enough? Hope so!

Oil-temperature ? I don't see oil-temperature on my dash. I think you mean coolant-temperature. Coolant does heat up a lot quicker than oil does. Coolant can be warm within an few miles. But oil takes a lot more. I don't rev the engine before I've driven 7 - 10 miles.

Oh I see, got bit confused then.

Is it possible to get one of those gauges fitted then which displays the 'OIL' temperature?
