I got a 1.0 115 bhp engine. What’s the mileage the spark plugs need changing. By time my next service is due I be approaching 30K miles.
And also out of interest what’s the cam belt changing mileage.

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember reading that spark plugs for many VW engines is 60k miles.
Not sure about the cam belt change interval on a current generation Polo. On the diesel Golfs I’ve owned in the past, cam belt replacement wasn’t just mileage based; it was the sooner of the mileage or age of the belt specified by VW. From your forum signature yours is a 2019 car, and I’d say a three year old car coming up to 30k miles wouldn’t be due for a cam belt change yet.
Assuming your car will be three years old at this coming service, then it’ll be due to have the first brake fluid change. If you’re getting your car serviced at the VW dealership, the cost of the brake fluid change is a separate chargeable item - the price of the service doesn’t include this.

Thanks for the reply STGTD.
The spark plugs do earn there keep if it is 60k miles. The car seems running fine so I leave it to VW dealership to decide if they need changing or not.
Where the cam belt is concerned I would of thought it be around 60k or five years. But modern cars seem go much further then that. I think the Ford 1.0 eco engine is 100,000 miles or ten years if your brave enough allow it go that far.
What made me ask I noticed VW want £1000 change the cam belt.
I will get the brake fluid changed in its next service as the car is three years old. I have got a service plan on it so I know I have pay the difference for brake fluid.
I do intend hold to the car for a few years in the present climate where in at the moment. Probably go electric. So I want keep the car upto date on its services etc.

Interesting question because I also thought every 60 000KM's only to find out thats not always the case. When my vehicle went in for the 75 000KM they only then changed the spark plugs and when queried they replied they only replace when the "computer" tells them to. This "computer" is I assume, the internet because they connect the car to VAG Germany for updates etc. This is also when they can determine if the cars ECU has been flashed, voiding any factory warranties.

@Steve_2019; the current published price on VW’s website for a cam belt change (engines up to and including 2 litres) is £669 or £789 for cam belt plus water pump. Was it your dealer who quoted you £1,000? If so, I think I’d find another dealer!

When it does eventually need changing, because it’s quite an expensive job it’d also be worth getting a price from a good independent VW specialist.

I seen it on the dealers website. Those quotes you seen are bit more like it. I very much doubt I be using a VW dealership by the time it’s due. Soon the service plan is up I be going back to my regular garage.
