New car thread. GTI

Post by GTAye »

Hello troops, new here  going to use this thread as an update on my gti purchased it yesterday. Flew from Glasgow to luton and drove it home no problems. I owned a 1.2 when I was 17 always said I wanted the gti but insurance etc had other ideas. Fast forward almost 10 years and I’ve finally bought one. Needs a few bits tidying up but overall I’m please with the purchase. I’m no mechanic just like my cars have always tinkers myself. This has been tinkered with already from what I can see heres what I have clocked so far:
Forge dump
Drilled n grooves rears
Drilled fronts
Boost gauge
Decat
Map (unconfirmed but according to boost gauge we’re hitting 1.4bar not sure how accurate that will be looks a cheap one)

Has a few lights on dash I’ll need to sort all relating to abs/brakes but more importantly today the red oil light has made an appearance on a couple occasions goes off again after 10 seconds or so, started when I took the dater in it and gave it some (I topped the oil up before driving down to his it wanted about 500ml) and it still shows perfect oil level. I have a hold of my mates diag tool but it’s not giving me codes for the brakes even though the lights are there it’s not a top snap on machine  (should be a pic of the codes attached) cleared them and got left only with the coolant one. Nothing for the oil light stored.
