New Airbag Control Module Coding (Polo 9N3, 6Q0 909 601F 006, Passenger Airbag Deactivation) VCDS Autoscan Request

Post by MornePieters »

Hi there everyone

I hope someone here can assist me here... I am From SA and have a Polo 9N3, 2007 model. My latest retrofit modification is Passenger Airbag Deactivation.

From Etka according to my VIN number, my current airbag module from the factory is 6Q0 909 601F 005. This is for front driver and passenger airbag only. If I do a VCDS autoscan of the car, I get the following info on Address 15:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 15: Airbags Labels: 6Q0-909-605-VW5.lbl
Part No: 6Q0 909 601 F
Component: 05 AIRBAG VW5 0010
Coding: 12341
Shop #: WSC 31414
VCID: 3634D196D15BF5CB65F-50AE

No fault code found.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Which is correct. The index is "05" with the soft coding 12341, all good. See below a picture of the airbag module:

The wiring diagram of the original airbag system can be seen below:

What I do know about my old airbag module 6Q0 909 601F 005 is that there are no separate crash sensors in the car. The sensors are built into the airbag module itself. So to do the passenger airbag deactivate retrofit, I would need a new airbag module with part number 6Q0 909 601F 006. See below a picture of the new airbag module from VW that I ordered:
Image

I installed the glove box passenger deactivate ON/OFF switch, dash airbag OFF light button (K145), new airbag module 6Q0 909 601F 006 and did the wiring as per the wiring diagram below:

So I connected the power of the car back at the battery, after working on the airbag system retrofit. The cluster light flashed a few times and stay steady afterwards. I connected VCDS and I cleared all the error codes. The airbag module also cleared all codes but the light on the cluster still remains. I verified the operation of the glove box passenger deactivate ON/OFF switch together with the dash airbag OFF light button. Everything works exactly like it should, which tells me my retrofit is a success, except for coding the new module...

So I tried the coding help from VCDS with the Index "06", which provided me with a soft coding of 12342, which the module does not accept no matter what work shop code I enter.

Strange, when I do enter 12342, it shows "05 AIRBAG VW5 0010 " at the description with the workshop code entered. Once I go back into the Address 15, soft coding and work shop code is reset back to 00000.

So here is the VCDS autoscan of the car after the new module is installed on Address 15:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 15: Airbags Labels: 6Q0-909-605-VW5.lbl
Part No: 6Q0 909 601 F
Component: AIRBAG VW5 0010
Coding: 00000
Shop #: WSC 00000
VCID: 3634D196D15BF5CB253-50AE

No fault code found.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now my question is this... Is there somebody here on the forum with this option from the factory on their 9N3, without side or curtain airbags?

It it only front driver and passenger airbag + the passenger airbag deactivation? If someone can assist me with a VCDS autoscan, I would highly appreciate this as I need the soft code for the new module. It is a struggle to find help to say the least...

I look forward to your assistance!
