Took my car in for a service and have the pedal box recall done and they put a massive dent in my doorsill by the jack point!

Still waiting to hear if they are going to take responsibility for it or make up some bull s**t excuse.

It's always someone else who damages your car never yourself. Well that's true in most cases

Mate, this happened to me too only a few weeks back.

My car is currently in the twonkers body shop so that they repair their own damage! These VW dealers cannot use their own jacking ramps!!!

Seems they don't adjust the jack plates up far enough and then the jacking arm lifts the car on the outer sills (see my previous thread on the same)

Jamie had the same too - he got BIG compensation he tells me.

Damage to mine was too noticable so the dealer had to repair it otherwise I was going to sue them.

Firstly call VW Customer service 0800 711 811 (option 3) and tell them what has happened. That's my advice.

And tell them this has happened to two of us on this Forum already!!! VW really need to get this sorted out so that their untrained VW UK engineers(???) know how to use these jacking ramps in the future.

VW Customer Service may offer to mediate for you to see if the dealer will compensate you if you don't want it fixed by them.

Took it back into the dealership and they said that at no point during the M.O.T, service or Pedal-Box Replacement was the car lifted by any means.

b*******s if you ask me!

He wanted to charge me £100 to get the dent on the sill seen too.

I can't be arsed to p*** about with this so I arranged to pay £40.00 if he could get it done A.S.A.P!

TIP! Take photos of the car before you take it in so you have proof if something goes wrong. Extreme I know but what else can you do.

Thought I would update this post with my current situation. Took my car on it's first extended journey on sunday (04/10) and found on returning home that I was having trouble locating gears. Scary concidering I was overtaking slower traffic at the time. I also found that the car was moving to the left when going straight (steering alignment). On reaching home I went to put it in 1st gear to enter the drive but it just wouldn't go. Eventually after various attempts it went into first. A couple of hours later I had to move the car to get my parents car out and the clutch cable went!

DAMAGE OR ERRORS SO FAR:

DAMAGED REAR DOOR SILL!

PARTS NOT FITTED (WHERE LEFT IN MY BACK SEAT) AND REQUIRED ANOTHER VISIT TO FIT!

STEERING ALIGNMENT INCORRECT!

OIL COVERED DRIVERS MAT!

BROKEN CLUTCH CABLE!

What's next to go wrong? You take a car in which works perfectly and you get a car back that doesn't even work!

The clutch cable was the likely cause of you not being able to engage gears. If it sticks due to cable wear, then when you put your foot down to depress the clutch, it doesn't actually move the clutch lever engine side hardly at all. This was what I ha originally noted with mine when I got the car. I got a new clutch cable and problem was fixed (see my previous threads).

Sills - been there as I've said. But, they fixed it all for me and made a good job of it - what can I say, it shouldn't happen

Can't see how the steering was mis-aligned when they did the pedal box - they remove the steering column, but this should go back the same - tracking will cause it too wander left though

My car was picked up and towed away to be repaired yesterday and I have received it back today. So far they have fixed the clutch cable and the steering wheel alignment.

I am taking the car in next Wednesday to have the dent removed from the doorsill.

The dealership have said that they will do all the required work free of charge.

So they should IMHO - no wonder people lose faith in dealerships these days...... None of my cars have seen a dealer since 1991 (apart from being parked outside when I collect parts and thats not very often as my local *coughs* V**xhall dealership delivers all my parts for free) and to be honest I'm happy to keep it that way - at least if I do it myself I know it's been done
