Gear linkage cables knocking on exhaust heat shield
Hello, my daughter has a 2007 polo. 1.2 petrol. The other day she said there was a knocking sound coming from somewhere underneath the front seats when changing from 1st to second and sometimes when braking. Also occurs on startup. I've had a listen and a look and it seems to be the cable from the gear selector to the box is hitting the heat shield during certain gear changes and certain vibrations. Is there a bracket that may have rusted or come loose? She's not hit anything underneath and there seems to be no damage. Gears change smoothly and clutch is good. Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

Re: Gear linkage cables knocking on exhaust heat shield
Just move the heat shield away from the cable’s ( there are two) is the easiest solution
