1.8 GTi PCV replacement

Post by Bepis »

After blowing my third oil seal I decided to go ahead and have the PCV replaced as I didn't want to blow the rear main seal and have to fork out for it to be replaced.

However, an unintended side effect seems to be that the car has more shove between 4-5k revs. Is this likely just in my head or could enough boost pressure have been getting into the crankcase to cause some resistance due to what I assume would have been a failed one-way check valve in the PCV?

Another observation is that the car is much smoother to drive overall.

Any replies with your thoughts or own experience appreciated.
