Shock absorbers
Does anyone know what make of shock absorbers were originally fitted to the Polo (2002)?
Re: Shock absorbers
Usually OEM for german car manufacturers is Sachs.
Can’t go wrong with them. I’ve also had good luck with Bilstein B4s on other cars. They’re usually a bit firmer than stock though

Re: Shock absorbers
Thanks. I was just prepping in case the ones I removed (to fit new bump stops) were on the way out. I was relieved to find they are Sachs Gas shocks and excepting a bit more pitting on the nearside shock body still good for many more miles. Cleaned up, rust proofed and painted. Near side spring is losing its plastic coating and cross member/axle beam paint flaking. Will attend to them in the spring.
