PC C*ntstuble!
I found this on my car outside my house at 7:30am. My car is taxed but the sticky things are just not sticky any more so it keeps falling of my windscreen.

I don't know what this actually means because it doesn't give any instructions to people who have got tax on their cars.

There is no contact number, no Greater Manchester Police badge on it or anything, could it be fake?

What time was this PC sneaking around my house this morning?

Why was this PC sneaking around my house this morning?

Did the PC not think to check with the DVLA databases that are advertised on the TV as having all the information on every car on the road to hand, before issuing the notice?

Was there no genuinne crimes that the PC could have been doing instead of sneeking around peoples houses early in the morning issuing notices?

Should I ring GMP and ask these very same questions?

You are lucky - round here they pick em up and trailer/tow em away and crush em within 24 hrs if no tax disc displayed and on the highway. (please note the highway includes the grass verge at the side of the road)

They did 48 cars in 2 days recently on one housing estate and crushed them all - none were displaying tax!!!!

I can understand why they do it (here I mean)

We have a huge influx of economic migrants (not racist - it's just how it is)

They are buying cars for £350 max and running them around with no tax insurance and often no MOT - when stopped the don't speak english - give false identities and addresses....... The cars aren't registered in their names cos they don't give a crap about our laws and if you get involved in an accident with one its a bloody nightmare as they just dissappear.

BTW -

Not one single complaint was recieved as a result of the exercise.

An awfull lot of people had to walk to work for a few weeks.

Last point

It is an offence to fail to display a valid VED - it is instant fixed penalty notice and can be issued by POLICE (or Traffic Wardens) this is separate to the offence of not having a valid VED

If it falls off your window get a new holder

Personally I think it's nice they've brought it to your attention rather than just issuing a ticket for the offence commited. It probably highlights the fact that they did check the DVLA records first but having taxed your vehicle for a year does not exempt you from displaying it after all a quick wipe with brake fluid and you could use it on another car that wasn't MOT'd or taxed

It's probably a fake 'coz as far as i know the sticky stuff they use on the real thing is VERY sticky - you'd have to use a scraper to get it off.

BTW they are doing a big crack-down on tax cheats, I'd say road tax cheats are real criminals as chances are they don't have insurance or a road-worthy car.

By the sounds of it the Police can't win, no patrols they get slammed, patrols they get slammed for not catching real criminals.

Yeah I've had some experience of this uber-sticky glue - we used to use it at a shop I used to work at many years ago which had an open loading bay out the back. Random skinflints would park in it instead of paying 70p for an hour's parking round the corner, blocking our delivieries, so we had big A4 notices that we'd stick on the cars with this horribly sticky messy glue that takes forever-and-a-day to get off :D

As for the problem with your tdh - is it a Richbrook-type thingy? Mine came with 6 little sticky pads, 3 to attach it, and 3 more if you need to remove it for any reason. Got none left? Demon Tweeks sell a tdh accessory pack for them which includes extra sticky pads  - £2.95 for 6 l'il stickys.

You might find that a local store like Halfords or Motormania might do them too

Yeh, it is a Richbrook thingy, I had my windscreen replaced and they stuck the tax disc holder back on but it keeps falling off.

It was stuck on with 5 sticky pads. I'll have to get some sorted, Im just worried that I may get some sort of fine for the tax disc falling off and lying on the floor.

That would be harsh.

(Still wondering what the geezer was doing outside my house some time before 7am)

Since being assaulted by the Police 2 years ago Ive had no respect for the Police what-so-ever. They should go out and earn that £24k+/year instead of sticking things under my windscreen wiper!
