Brake Booster Hose Connector

Hi Everyone,
I'm replacing a brake booster hose to my 6n2 Diesel Polo and the round connector ( brake servo pump) is gently moving in and out ever so slightly, and will twist round if I twiddle it. So there's 'play' in the connector to the brake servo pump.
Is there suppose to be 'play' in this connector?
I have enclosed a picture where I'm pointing to the connector in question.
