Re: Polo 6c Composition touch possible rear camera retrofit
Many people prefer the flip logo camera, but I think this one is not too bad.

Yes the flip handle logo camera. It is definitely a more correct and nice solution. I'm a little skeptical about this solution, I'm afraid of the reliability of the handle. For now I prefer to do something simpler.
I am ready to buy this

the CVBS 170 degrees option.

I finally bought this camera, I'm waiting for the delivery. In the meantime, I'm looking for installation info. A question arose. Should I use a little device called a "Power Delay Timer Relay Filter"?
Like this?

If you think it's nicer to show the camera image a bit longer, sure, but I think your radio will remove the video image anyway as soon as you take the car out of reverse gear.
So I don't think you need the delay filter.

ΟΚ will procced the installation without that delay relay.
I already have a Composition color and i am willing to swap it with my Composition Touch and remove the C(omponent) P(rtotection). This is the 1rst step.
I checked the connection pin from Composition Color and there are actually pins for connecting the camera. So I think I'm on the right track.

Re: Polo 6c Composition touch possible rear camera retrofit
This is the wiring diagram from the camera i have bought.
i have some rather silly questions.
The connector number 2 is easy to understand, it goes to No6 and No12 from the blue connector of the infotainment.
Right next to connector 2 there is a small red wire, from the camera wiring, i think this wire is not connecting anywhere. (trigger wire )
Finally, the 3 and 4 is connecting to the reverse light.
Could someone verify these connections ?

No one ok, I'll have to check it out myself. I have the infotainment and the camera so it's only a matter of time.

makes sense, black to GND, red to a positive (reversing light, 12V post-ignition)

Re: Polo 6c Composition touch possible rear camera retrofit
in android case, use use 3 and 4 if your radio DOES NOT use a CAN-bus decoder.giannis20vt wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 6:36 pm This is the wiring diagram from the camera i have bought.

If your android uses CAN DECODER - little box that comes with android media player, you dont need to connect 3-and 4 ( meaning you dont need the power wire 12+). If you wire 3 and 4, it will work but you will get noise, it will be stuck on the reverse screen etc.

Hi,
i haven't installed it yet. My infotainment is from VW, so it's not a typical android RCD.

Re: Polo 6c Composition touch possible rear camera retrofit
I have already replaced the infotainment with Composition Color.
And I also installed the pins on the unit plug.
Number 6 and point 12 of the blue plug.
Before
After the installation
This is how far I've come.
I haven't tested the camera yet to see if it works and that worries me a bit.
I am struggling to find time to proceed with the installation.
Some questions have arisen, since I have never done anything similar.
1st apart from connecting the camera to the 12V from the back light I don't see any other electrical connection needed. Correctly;
2nd Does the infotainment unit need any coding?

Re: Polo 6c Composition touch possible rear camera retrofit
Yes you need to code 5F in long coding and adaptation. Look for rvc. If you have Pdc, also code that one for camera and adaptation. Adaptation has a channel like 'visual assist for parking display'

Re: Polo 6c Composition touch possible rear camera retrofit
Very useful information, thank you. I don't have PDC.
I will try to change the long coding to the 5F module. Also the adaptation at the same module. I will do it right away, even if I don't have the wiring of the installation completed.
Then I can test the camera by connecting it to 12v current for a while and putting the reverse gear.

Look for channels in 5f for 'park' too

Re: Polo 6c Composition touch possible rear camera retrofit
Well,
Well, as I wrote earlier, I did the coding and looked into the adaptations channels.
I found only this at the 5F module.
I chose it, I ticked it and this is the result.
I searched the adaptation channels, found this about the camera (rvc )
I have the whole adaptation list, it is too big for one forum post.
Anyway, Without the camera, (haven't installed or connected it yet) this is the result you get on the screen when I put the reverse gear
I think i am on the right way.
Thanks for the advice so far.
