Be prepared for a let down about the rear speakers, it's a bit of a pain in the bum! Can be done but a pain. If the weather is good tmw and i have time i'll take mine off and try and do photos.
Unless someone else can do this sooner?

i bought some alpine rear components and got them fitted a high repuatition company in newcastle who do some top builds.
they got the back pannels off...which is bastard as i tried to get them off and it wasnt as easy as i thought. when they had them off there was nothing inside to mount the speaker onto.
they contacted vw themselves and they didnt make a mounting bracket (at the time, not sure if they do now.) for the 9n. so i ended up putting them onto a parcelshelf.
obviously it can be done if your willing to spend the time and money getting brackets custom made for your car.

There's always been a mounting bracket but as far as i know it's only designed for the VW speakers.

Take a look at this post
http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/poloforum/v ... d59a1a9499.
I took some pictures when I removed the rear panel. As said, it is a pain, and the speakers are fitted on a special plastic. Well, look at the pictures to see for yourself.
If you need more info, just tell me!

u have the sport model that could be why u have the mounting brackets. as i have the E model i didnt even have rear speakers, and there wasnt anything inside the pannels.
it must just depend on your model

Yes that is true, 'cos I've read the manual that SaBiDa sent me, which tells you how to install the "uprated" rear speakers from VW and it mentioned that some model don't have that "mounting brackeT" at the back, but apparently you can order them from VW.
Hmmm confused now, does it mean I should install them directly on to the parcel shelf or should I take the time and trouble to remove the back panels? 'cos I@ve got the E model too as 2Fast4u.

well my E model has nothing inside, so im guesing yours probably doesnt either. the person who posted up the picture has the sport model.
when the interior pannel is off, its just the body pannel and theres no where to monut them onto either. i think u need that huge black pannel to put inside, which comes standard with high models...if that makes sense! lol too many pannels!!!
personally i wouldnt take the time to get them off, as i tried for about an hour or so and it still didnt happen. lol. mind this was the first time i had tried 2 fit speakers. so there may be a certain way to do it.
personally i would just get a sheet of mdf, cut some holes and cover them up on there. i found that way fine.

That idea with the MDF, you mean putting it on the parcel shelf or creating the panel for the side panel bit? I was trying to pull it off the other day, but was bit scared to do so.

Mine's an S, i only said they are available from VW didn't say you get them. I bought them at the time apprx 99p each (yes huge black pannel) from the dealer. I then had the upgrade speakers fitted which ment i had to buy the proper grilles to replace the dummy grilles.
Option is yours about the parcel shelf speakers. Aye good idea i had them with a stealth shelf, how ever the stealth shelf weighed my car down too much and made the back of my drift when going round roundabouts at speeds it used to be alright with. Not only that made my car slower and it's only a 1.2 which is a struggle in the first place.
Advantage was that it sounded pretty good with front, rear and parcel shelf speakers. Probably would have sounded better if i had a slightly better amp to power my 6x9's at the time as well but never mind.
