2016 Polo 6C Startup Takeoff Delay

Post by R826583 »

I am wondering if anyone on the forum has experienced a lag of about a few seconds from igniting the engine to actually being able to move in drive? It doesn’t worry me, I am only curious as to why this is, as many other cars that I have driven (a Mitsubishi ASX as an example) can move almost instantly after the engine has ignited.

This is a complete guess but perhaps it has something to do with the DSG having to ‘prime its hydraulics’, or an engineering decision to let oil circulate for a few seconds until moving (and with that the rev increase from idle). The VW engineers would probably laugh if they heard my uninformed guesses

My car is a 2016 Polo 6C with the DQ250 transmission and CJZC engine.

I'm pretty sure your DSG is a DQ200. The DSG gearbox will indeed only work when it has enough oil pressure, and the electric pump usually needs a few seconds to get it all up and running.

I see!

My apologies it is the DQ200 (7 speed) and not the DQ250 (6 speed) like I had said. I meant to change this but it was a late night :D
