I notice on the German VW site that the Polo dash has chrome rings around the rev counter and speedo and they also have the MFA display in the in between the rev and speedo, are we being short changed here?

Look at VW.co.uk

QUOTE:

the new polo's dashboard design gives the interior a feeling of space........... vw's main instruments with their silver coloured surrounds.

Maybe we should send a letter to VW UK, see what's going on. I have a post 2003 model bought in Sepetember, we're definately being short changed here.

Is this the picture your talking about? Image If so it could be because that car might have sat nav installed. Apparently you get a sub display in between the clocks telling you the same info that is on the sat nav screen. Seems a silly way of doing things if you ask me.

Silver surrounds are in the new UK 2003 model year brochure on page 10 but thats it. The picture on page 32 (highlighting the computer) shows standard black surrounds, as does all the other pictures in the brochure.

The guy in the dealership convinced me that it was a trick of the light and that they are all black surrounds, but i have just come across this picture...

Our Polo should arrive in a couple of weeks so i will have to wait and see i suppose. It's not a big deal, but they sure do set the clocks off.

On a related note, how do you control the MFC and where is the display? The demo car we drove was a 2002 model and didn't have it fitted afaik.

ok first the mfa is intergrated into one of the clocks i.e. rev or speed. i think that the control button is still on the end of the wiper stalk (where the rear wiper button on a 6n2 is and for the rear wiper i think you push the stalk foreward
on the subject of chrome rings i have seen kits to add these artermarket i dont know if they do one for the 9n but when i was watching them being fitted to a 16v clio there were some issues

I can imagine there would be. Thing is they appear to be standard fitment to all cars apart from UK ones. The picture below is from Italy, and they have the chrome surrounds and the new infomation display

Could it be that the chrome ring dials are only availiable on UK cars with leather/automatic (the Polo in the 2003 brochure has these options). Other than that I have no idea

Doubt it. I suspect we won't be getting them. Contrary to what the VW uk website says. ( and the brochure come to that)

ok then people i was brousing through a new tuning catalog (bloody 1.5" thick doorstop) and in an add i noticed that chrome rings are available for what they call the polo 4 and the polo5 but since there is so much confusion on which is a mk4 and a mk5 in the tuning world i will be ringing them within an hour to see if they do them for a 9n but if so then heres the kicker: there ionly £30

well unfortunatly they are por the 6n and 6n2 but i have noticed that they are very new which suggests that the manufacuters are accomodating new fitments so you might be in luck soon
also while i was on the phone i asked about some bora lights i saw in their catalog and they are 209 euros each but have the joey mod already done in carbon :D
im sorry to get all your hopes up but hopefully soon they will be available and as my punishment i got shouted at by a french geezer :(

Nelson,

Did you get the MFA display with your instrument panel?

@Nelson

Did you order a full instrument cluster?

Sorry to ask you this, but how much did that cost?

I've asked my dealer about replacing the entire cluster, becouse I wanted the red-dot-matrix screen between the rev and speedo counters, and they told me they didn't know if that could be done :(
So Nelson, you changed it? It was difficult?

Thank you!
