whilst aimlessly surfing the net I came across some seller offering chromed parts for VW key fobs and also replacement keypads
I bought a couple of sets.. they do the bling long edge of the fobs too.. but I didn't go that far.
you only have to take the battery cover off to reveal the torx screw and remove it with the tool provided. slide off the plastic bottom edge and slide the chromed one back on.. Ps use the supplied threaded screw for the chromed fitting as that is properly threaded whereas the original plastic base used a fine self tapping screw and it won't work with the metal fitting.
well it was cheap to do and looks nice...

Re: cheap bling for key fob
I have the ‘GTI’ version - a pair of them came with the car, along with a pair of the standard black end caps.
The chrome GTI end cap is slightly larger than the black plastic one and with it fitted, my key fob won’t fit inside my silicone key fob cover, so I’ve de-blinged (is that even a word? ) my key fobs and put the black plastic end caps on.

Re: cheap bling for key fob
if you have an entry level Polo like i have.. everything can be blinged up..
I'm sure de-blinged is a word.. if not it will be in next year's Oxford dictionary as most used newcomer..
I haven't measured the depth of the chromed version to know if this bling makes the original key of different dimensions.. I'll take a look later. I don't have a cover anyway though.

Re: cheap bling for key fob
This is mine - spare key fob with chrome GTI end cap and the one I use with the black plastic end cap. The chrome end cap is larger than the plastic one because of the space needed the GTI logo.

the GTi version looks fatter all round unless your phone's camera lens was closer to the right hand fob?
mine are the same dimension fortunately with the chrome or plastic fitments .. if someone had a over already it would still fit ok

Re: cheap bling for key fob
Ignoring the end caps, they’re both the same size. Must be my (lack of) photography skills that make one look larger than the other .grazuncle2 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 3:07 pm the GTi version looks fatter all round unless your phone's camera lens was closer to the right hand fob?
