VOLKSWAGEN GOES ROUND THE TWIST WITH POLO SPECIAL FROM £8,495

The Polo Twist, Volkswagen’s high-value version of its popular supermini, is now even more appealing to cost-conscious buyers, with a starting price of £8,495 (RRP on the road). This represents a further £690 reduction on the already highly attractive value proposition. Since its launch last year, the Twist has proved very popular with buyers thanks to its extra equipment and a significant price saving compared with the equivalent-engined Polo S model, on which it is based. In fact, it is now the best-selling model in the range.

The Twist is a stylish way to tackle city streets, with distinctive 14" ‘Sao Paulo’ alloy wheels and a choice of metallic or pearl effect paint as standard. This is in addition to the comprehensive list of Polo S standard features, such as semi-automatic climate control; electric front windows; ABS anti-lock brakes; driver’s and front passenger’s airbags with front seat side airbags; central locking; and electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors. A chrome ‘Twist’ badge on the tailgate further distinguishes this model.

A range of four advanced and efficient engines is available for the Polo Twist:

1.2-litre 65 PS and 1.4-litre 75 PS petrol units, and 1.9-litre SDI 64 PS and 1.4-litre TDI 75 PS diesel powerplants. The 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre TDI PD feature three cylinders for particularly impressive fuel economy, yet with the refinement and performance to match four cylinder rivals. All engines are fitted with five-speed manual gearboxes as standard, while the 1.4-litre petrol engine is also available with four-speed automatic transmission. The Twist is offered in three- or five-door bodystyles meaning there’s one to suit every need.

very true, i bought mine from an elderly man, he'd only done 11,500 miles in 3 years, bless him
he'd probably have a heart attack if he saw it now!
least i knew at the time it hadn't been ragged by a boy-racer!
thats great news about the price drops though, hopefully more people will invest their hard-earned cash into a proper car :)

hopefully that means, just like the mk2s and mk3s being originally bought by everybodys aunt and gran, they'll be in fantastic nick when the time comes that they've dropped into the realms of sensible ownership costs

ie £2000 a throw ;)
