I imagine all the dash warning sounds have stopped working, ie low fuel, low washer fluids etc.....

Then this means the dash pod needs replacing. Both I and Killis had these replaced under warranty.

It just sat there with the needle flat on the left, as if it wasn't turned on. No warning bells or anything, and I knew I had half a tank in it (*)

It's been working today.

(*) Although, after a minor altrication with a minicab driver the day before, it did cross mind that she/he/it (seriously couldn't work it out) had tracked me down during the night and punctured the tank

Count yourself lucky! Speedo needle on my old Polo fcuked up but rather than just stopping working it started reading about 15 mph slower than I was actually going. Damn lucky not to have gotten any points :evil:

If you buy the winter pack there is. Another way to test the warning sounds would be to drive very slowly with the handbrake on, that will also beep at you as a reminder.
