High Level Brake Light - now more problems

Post by _mocool_ »

Hiya all
I have a Polo 2017 CHYA engine 1.0
My high level brake light wasnt working. I wiggled the wires in the tailgate loom and it started working, which led me to believe there was a break in the wire.
I exposed the rubber gromet to find a break in a wire, which I repaired with a wiring butt connector and it started to work again.
However, after doing so, the car now has the airbag light on.
I am quite stumped, as I didnt think there would be an airbag wire in the tailgate loom. The light wasnt on before.

Would anyone be able to offer some kind help? Does anyone have access to a wiring diagram who can check if there are indeed any airbag wires in this loom? All the wires are mostly white in the loom.

Kind REeards

You could read the faultcodes in adress 15 Airbags
This is guessing for us

Do a scan of the modules. (i.e. VCDS)
Module 15 is airbag module.
Look at stored faultcodes

So your 3rd brakelight is working.
That's good, next should be diagnostics to determine why the airbag light is on.
You will get more info than the wire schematic

There is no crash/impact/collision sensor or any other element of the airbag system in the POLO 6C tailgate.

Maybe, and this is just a guess 🔮, it is related to how the lights are programmed to work in the event of a collision...
Knowing all the programming algorithms of the airbag system of a vehicle model is only within the reach of forum smartasses who know everything and other species of weirdos...🤣

As Maarten recommends, use a diagnostic tool to at least clear all DTCs, and if possible also scan the car.
If you think it is appropriate, inform us of the results.

There is a thread on the forum where it is possible to obtain all the VW diagrams and VW repair manuals for the 6R and 6C with a single click (for free), but I don't remember this thread.🤷‍♂️
