Polo 2022 - when auto is switched for wipers it makes a noise

When I have my wipers set to auto and they wipe I hear this click noise. Is this normal? I have sat in other cars and I don’t hear any noises with auto wipers.

Yes it is normal, there is relay switching power to wiper motor. :) I am pretty sure it should do it on every speed not just auto. :)

Only on interval should you hear the clicking.

On continious wiping the relais is on so no clicking.

The windshield wipers on the VW Polo GTI are very noisy, any solution?

Buy a good brand i.e. Bosch or Valeo, replace yearly

Presumably you mean the actual wiper blades on the screen while they’re wiping are noisy, rather than the noise being caused by another part of the wiper system (e.g. worn bearing in the wiper motor or noisy wiper linkage).

Assuming you are referring to the wiper blades, then as @Maarten has suggested, replacing the blades would be the solution. I fitted Bosch Aerotwin wiper blades to my GTI+ and they were very good; quiet and smooth in operation.

I've owned two Polos, and both had incredibly loud window wipers from the start. After enduring the constant juddering for three months, I switched to Valeo Silenco wipers, which are blissfully silent—exactly as they should be. I’ve never experienced new wipers that juddered so much. They were fitted with Bosch Aerotwin wipers, but I think the rubber compound was too brittle, causing them to jump on the windscreen. The Valeo Silencos, true to their name, are completely silent!
