DSG and Handbrake

Hi

I have now driven autos of some description (slush box or DSG) for many, many, years now and I think the last one I owned back then with a proper handbrake was an E39 530i and if I recall the handbrake would hold when the car was in ‘drive’…. Not a good practice to do long term I know, but this Polo just overrides the handbrake at traffic light etc and creeps forward. I'm aware that pressing the brake pedal disengages the DSG but I wonder is that normal now with a DSG and an old fashion handbrake to still creep forward so easily?
