Polo GTI+ 2019 - Juddering at lower speeds

Hi, I have a 2019 VW Polo GTI+.
I noticed recently during traffic that between 5-20mph it felt rather judder, as if it wasn't able to select what gear It was happy with.
I tried using my cruise control yesterday at 30mph and that also feels like it is juddering.
I normally pretty much only do motorway driving, so haven't noticed this issue a lot, at higher speeds I don't notice a thing.
It's been serviced and had spark plugs changed within the last 6 months. What could be causing this? is it anything to be worried about?
Cheers

Welcome to the forum @DSB.
How many miles has your car covered and has your DSG ever been serviced? - you’ve said ‘it’s’ been serviced recently, but I’m assuming you’re referring to a ‘normal’ engine oil / filter change and inspection service rather than a DSG service. Service intervals of the 6 speed DQ250 DSG in your car is every 40k miles, so if your car has covered 8k miles (or more) a year, then the DSG is either due - or overdue - a service.
Juddering from the transmission sounds like there could be an issue with the clutch packs in your gearbox. However, that’s just a forum ‘armchair diagnosis’ (i.e. an opinion) and may not be the problem, so in your position I’d go to a good independent DSG transmission specialist for a proper diagnosis and an estimate of the cost to fix the problem.
Good luck with getting it fixed - hopefully it won’t be too costly

. Please report back for the benefit of other forum members once the problem has been diagnosed.

Stupid question SRGTD, but when you took the car in for its yearly service shouldn’t they do the DSG at the same time? That would make sense to me.

Not a stupid question at all.
The DSG service doesn’t form part of either the fixed (time and distance) or flexible service schedule - it’s a separate chargeable job, in the same way that brake fluid changes are. Yes, it could be done at the same time as the ‘normal’ service, but the customer would need to request it - the dealer won’t just do it, and based on my recent experience of VW dealerships, they won’t tell the customer it’s due when booking the car in for a standard oil / filter / inspection service. I had to tell the dealership I used when my brake fluid change needed doing! - they didn’t tell me.
So the onus is on the car’s owner to tell the dealer - or independent specialist - the DSG service is due when the mileage is approaching 40k. To be fair to the dealer, on a 2019 car they won’t be able to prompt / remind the owner of an upcoming DSG service in advance, as the dealer won’t know when the car’s mileage is approaching 40k (perhaps they can tell on a current / latest generation fully connected car?), hence why it’ll be down to the car’s owner to arrange it when due.
The 7 speed DQ381 DSG fitted to the facelift GTI has 80k miles service intervals, so it may not need servicing until the car is in possession of the third of fourth owner. DSG servicing isn’t time-dependent; it’s just mileage dependent, although owners on some forums get the service done at 4 years if the mileage limit hasn’t been reached.

Fair enough, just would make sense to me for the dealership to say “whilst it’s in your car is due a dsg service, that would be £x amount do you want us to proceed with it?”. Maybe I’m just old fashioned!

Some dealers may be more proactive than others and do this. Mine didn’t. Having said that, not sure I’d be paying VW main dealer prices for a DSG service.
Forum member @S_94 recently had the DSG serviced in his GTi+ and got quotes in advance. The VW dealer quoted £490 against a quote of £280 by a VW/Audi independent specialist. No prizes for guessing where he took his car for the DSG service - I would’ve done the same.

I’m surprised at the £490 figure. I had a look recently and my local dealer (Group 1) quoted £280 as well. That said I just checked again and they’re now quoting £330, I should have done it £50 ago rather than waiting for its annual service in March!
