Private car sale

Hi, I hope you’re all well.

I am a long time lurker, but this is my first time posting on the forum. I am looking for some advice on selling my car privately.

I own a 2020 (70) Polo GTI+ in Flash Red, with 18” Brescia alloy wheels and the “deep iron” dashboard (38.6k miles). This was my dream car, and I still love it dearly. Unfortunately, however, circumstances mean it is now the time to sell.

The price offered by dealers seems criminally low and so I want to sell privately. Does anyone have any tips, or sage wisdom to share?

Thanks in advance!

I will add photos in due course 😊

I would try some of the car buying services such as Motorway and Carwow. I’d avoid We Buy Any car as they have a reputation for making insulting lowball offers.

I’ve read some good feedback from a forum member on the Golf R forum who recently used Carwow’s car buying service. As with any of these car buying services, always be completely honest over the condition of your car so you don’t get knocked down on any initial indicative valuation they give you when they view it.

However you do decide to proceed, please update this discussion topic with the outcome for the benefit of other forum members who might be contemplating selling their cars.

Good luck with the sale.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Motorway and Carwow do seem to offer the best provisional prices (14.5-75k). As opposed to WBAC that offered a paltry 12k!

I will bump this thread when sold, including who it was sold to and the price.
