Polo central locking fault/boot not opening

Hello all, I am here enquiring about my partners 2009 polo.
The car has had a central locking fault which we ain’t too bothered about, but we could really do with getting the boot opening and shutting sorted.
I’ve got a replacement boot latch which didn’t affected anything, checked voltage to the latch unit which is getting full voltage, the switch is making a noice when activated meaning the switch is good and I’ve checked the cabling from the switch to the latch and that has good continuity.
Looking for any ideas on where to look at next?
I’m not very car knowledgeable but I work in engineering so currently using all my work knowledge to try and solve this
Is it a possibility that’s the central locking issue is causing the boot latch to not activate? I personally didn’t think there would be a link as I’m not doing it from the key fob, I am doing it locally at the switch?
Appreciate any advice
