2020 GTI+ B Pillar Noise

Post by twistedinertia »

Hi All,

Long time lurker here, I am just sharing if anyone could know what this noise is, I've had the car from new and it has always made this noise from the first year, to which I gave it to the dealer and they said they could not find a noise (I dont know how)

Anyways it comes and goes, I think hotter temperatures makes it appear more, as it has gone cooler now and the noise has disappeared hence why I never really pursued to get it fixed.

I move the seat belt adjuster and it doesn't fix the issue, but when I open the door when driving the knocking disappears, yet it sounds as if its right next to my ear on the b pillar, I am confused.

Please find the attached short

If it's anything like the A pillar rattle I had, it's probably the trim clunking against the chassis. It might be best to push and pull the trim around the area to see if you can replicate the noise when stationary and then pack it out with rubber strips or just pack anything out that has a gap lol. The plastics used in the Polo along with everything else are made to a price to say the least.

The dealerships aren't interested in something like this unless you can demonstrate it reliably. That's why these issues are so frustrating :(
