Where on earth does this enter the car?

Recognise that grommet in the first picy? It's the grommet ya bonnet release cable goes through on the opposite side. This would be ideal if i could find where inside the car this came in? Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

I've had the glove box out and saw nothing, scrathc the back of my hand up (very raw now) searching behind the dash and i found a hole but A) i couldn't see it can only feel it, B) the hole seems quite deep and leads of in many directions (open hole, not a direct hole if that makes sense to anyone).

Second question, does anyone know how to get this off? It's the "Water Deflector" which Martyn kindly told me ( for anyone who saw my post in the VAG parts section  ). Am i right in saying that the side nearest to the windscreen is adhesive? How easy is it to remove, and maybe even replace?

That grommet is a hole leading to the space under that black plastic airvent. Still not anywhere near the passenger-cabine.

When I installed my audio I had to drill a hole into the back of the engine-compartment. The Polo 6N had a nice prepared hole for extra cables, but the 9N doesn't unfortunately.

behind that grommet there's another one just like it, it must lead in to the cabin if the hand brake one does on the other side. surely?

My audio power cable went through that hole. It leads to the hole behind the dashboard. To see where it leads just unclip the little plastic part (it's just the same as unclipping the plastic of the fusebox) and you will see the cable. If you want more details check the topic on the 9N forum or de Ice forum. I've posted there a link to a french site where it's all explained. ;)

Hmmm, come to think of... my steeringwheel is on the left-side :-)

I couldn't find an entrance into the cabine. And even an audio-specialist couldn't.

Positive Wire

:D The only way to get supply wires from the engine to the drivers area is through the main junction connector. This can be found under the front wiper motor.
You will have to remove the wiper arms(both)Then remove the rubber seal that runs across the plastic firewall cover. The plasic cover over the wiper motor area will have to be unclipped (carefully)
Once you have done this use a size ten socket to remove the two bolts holding the wiper motor. Also unclip the connector holding the wires.
Use a spline socket to remove the two connectors and you will see all the wires.

Or you could tap off the main positive supply at the junction box below the steering wheel for a +30 supply.
Cheers

That hole goes through to the plastic tray...there should be another grommet at the same point in there. If you were pushing a wire through it would then go into a carpetted part...you'd need to pull this back and grab the wire.

On the Ibiza you can take the side of the dash off and get access to this really easily...dont know about the Polo though.

Yeah there is another grommet behind it, it's trying to reach the grommet that's the challenge. I'll try again soon. If the weather is alright this weekend i'll give it ago. :)

Here's how to do it (notice that this is a LHD so for RHD is just the same but on the other side of the car :P)

Have fun.

PS: This was how my power cable went from the engine bay to the interior of the car.
