2026 95 BHP TSI high idling speed

Will verify tomorrow when my VCDS is returned from loan but the idling speed from new has never fallen below a tacho indicated speed of 1000 RPM even when fully hot, is this a feature of turbo charged 3 cylinder engines, I would have thought 750 to 800 RPM would be more normal?

Edit: Just now, after a 10 mile trip, VCDS shows a idling speed of 996/1002 RPM, coolant temperature 92C, (Tacho display shows ~ 1100 RPM),

Hi Johntheo1

If memory serves me, my 2017 Polo 3 cylinder idled around 900rpm ish... cant recall if it ever went over 1000rpm. That said the 3 cylinder engine used quite a bit of oil compared to the 2.0L engine in the GTI which never requires topping up.

We also have a 2019 65 BHP, MPI (non turbo) Polo that is showing a VCDS idle speed of 776 RPM, this increases to ~ 1000 RPM when car is put in first gear and remains at this level in any gear, other car will be checked out at main dealer next Friday.
